National Service Scheme (NSS)

National Service Scheme (NSS) has been introduced at this college since 2012 as a part of the academic programmes and since then NSS has been functioning as a regular feature in the realm of our college education. The NSS Unit of the college conducted various programmes creating awareness on sanitation and health providing free general health check up. The NSS Unit organized blood donation camps in the college. The NSS volunteers actively assisted the other units of the college during the various event and functions.

Computerization of office work including admission, administration, examination, accounts and e-despatch of office letters is an important achievement of the college. Funds in the college include State Government Grants, Development Fees collected from students at the time of admission, UGC Grant and MLA Lad Grant and donations from public & industries which are used in building infrastructure and for other development purposes such as purchase of equipments and furniture.

AIMS


The programme aims to inculcate social service in students and to provide service to society without bias. NSS volunteers work to ensure that everyone who is needy gets help to enhance their standard of living and lead a life of dignity. In doing so, volunteers learn from people in villages how to lead a good life despite a scarcity of resources. it also provides help in natural and man-made disasters by providing food, clothing and first aid to the natural calamities victims.

  • Develop among them a sense of social and civic responsibility.
  • Utilize their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems.

  • Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes.
  • Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters.
  • Practice national integration and social harmony.

MEMBERSHIP

All the students are eligible to become NSS volunteers. As many as one hundred fifty members are enrolled in the NSS.

ACTIVITIES

  • The NSS Units do take up both Normal/Regular and Special Camping activities regularly as per NSS Calendar prepared by the Government of India. The Regular activities of National Service Scheme (NSS) Units of the college include:
  • Functional literacy and non formal education, plantation, preservation and up keeping of trees, cleaning of village ponds and wells, health care, first aid awareness, blood donation, anti drug addiction drives, AIDS awareness, advocating advanced agricultural practice, women empowerment, road safety, socio-economic surveys, improvement of campus etc.
  • The NSS volunteers of the college undertook the activities listed below to serve the local community in and around the college and promote good citizenship.
  • Annual Blood Donation drives for contributing blood to the Blood Bank, Balasore Govt. Hospital, Balasore.
  • Rural service through NSS special camps.
  • Voter Awareness Programme
  • Independence Day & Republic Day celebrations in the college.
  • Swachh Bharath Programme – The Community Health Centre (CHC), Remuna, in locality, College Campus and Adopted villages.
  • Tree Plantation Programmes in college Campus.
  • NSS adopted Srikrushnapur, Madhipur, Achyutapur Village for rendering services throughout the year.
FUTURE PLANS

It is planned to select some leading volunteers to send each year to take part in programmes organized at the national level such as Republic Day Parade, National Integration Camp, and National Youth Festival etc.
